SJ Belangel will get to play along with someone who he is familiar with when he arrives in Daegu KOGAS.
The Pegasus is set to trade for Goyang’s Lee Daesung in exchange for cash considerations.
Multiple local reports in Korea have reported on the development.
Belangel played against Lee twice during the Clark window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.
The 6-foot-3 guard was held down to two points during Gilas’ first game against Korea back on June 16. Four days later, Lee got nine points against Gilas.
Both games resulted in losses.
Lee was the leading scorer for Goyang last season, averaging 17.0 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per contest.
KOGAS though pulled out all the stops to boost its backcourt in the off-season as lead gunner Kim Nakhyeon is entering military service.
Belangel is excited to face Korea’s national team players anew but in the club setting.
“For me, I’m just going to play my game and focus on kung ano ang pinapagawa,” Belangel told CNN Philippines’ SportsDesk. “Excited naman ako, super excited pero at the same time, lumalabas ulit ngayon yung highlights especially yung buzzer-beater.
“For me, excited lang ako maglaro at grabe yung competition dun. It’s going to be tough but it’s in those moments where you will learn and grow.”
