Taine Davis just protecting CSB teammates before getting punched by John Amores

College of St. Benilde’s Taine Davis was one of the players trying to help his team in the game against Jose Rizal University, a 71-51 victory.

Taine Davis was one of the College of Saint Benilde players that were punched by John Amores on Tuesday.

During the wild incident, Davis was just trying to seal his teammates away from the rampaging Amores.

However, things didn’t go well for Benilde’s Fil-Aussie forward since Amores landed a solid sucker punch that knocked him off his feet at the baseline.

“I think we had a position down the stretch when we made a three. Then Amores got angry with one of the referees, tapos I think they head… Physically head to the referee. And then, he started [to] go on a rampage, then started running towards our bench,” Davis recalled with an ice pack on his face.

The scuffle began when both Chris Flores and Amores were on the floor. And as head coach Charles Tiu mentioned, he saw Amores kick Flores – then it escalated to Amores rushing towards the bench of the Blazers.

Davis was just standing in the inbound area near his team bench since as he was just trying to talk with one of the referees.

The next thing he knew, he was out cold on the floor.NCAA-Season-98-JRU-vs-Benilde-Fight-7 Taine Davis just protecting CSB teammates before getting punched by John Amores Basketball CSB NCAA News - philippine sports news

“I was just trying to protect my teammates; I was just trying talk to the refs ‘cause I was like ‘what’s going on?’ The next thing I know, my teammate Jimboy [Pasturan] is punched in the eye,” he continued.

“And then, I was just trying to break them up, and then next thing I know, there was a clean hit [to me]. I didn’t see where it was coming from. Got hit from the part of the chin.”

And all Davis wanted was just to protect his teammates.
