Fil-Am Jalen Green named to USA U17 World Cup team

Filipino-American Jalen Green is set to take flight in the world stage.

Green, together with 11 of the top Under-17 years old prospects of America, were named to Team USA for the 2018 FIBA U-17 World Cup, Friday.

Green, who stands at 6-foot-5 and plays shooting guard, was part of the Filipino-American contingent that competed in the 2018 National Basketball Training Center National Championship.

He steered the squad to a quartefinals finish, falling to the NU Bullpups 92-98. He had 51 points in the contest.

With this, he will no longer be eligible to play for Gilas Pilipinas as a local.

Team USA is grouped with China, Mali, and Serbia. The only way Kai Sotto and Batang Gilas can face them are in the Finals (if the Philippines places first in Group D) or in the quarterfinals (if the Philippines places second).
