Execration opened its wild card campaign in the 2021 WePlay AniMajor on a good note, forcing a tie for the third spot to put itself in a good position to qualify for the group stages, Thursday at Kyiv, Ukraine.
The Dota Pro Circuit 2021: Southeast Asia Season Two third-placer opened its campaign with a 0-3-0 standing – tied with Chinese squad Vici Gaming at the third spot behind ONE Esports Singapore Major champion Invictus Gaming and European powerhouse Team Nigma, who placed first and second, respectively.
In their first series of the wild card phase, Execration dropped Game One against Invictus Gaming before Jinn “Palos” Lomatao’s Faceless Void carried the fight in Game Two. The former Vice Esports carry delivered 13 kills and 10 assists without a single death to force a draw.
Execration once again lost its opening match, this time against AS Monaco Gambit. But just like in their first match, the Filipino squad managed to force a draw this time through Yuri “Yowe” Pacana’s Leshrac. He finished with 10 kills and 11 assists against two deaths in Game Two.
Vici Gaming then drew first blood against Execration before Yowe came alive once again in Game Two. He finished with monster numbers of 17 kills and 14 assists against just three deaths with his Templar Assasin in Game Two to force a draw once more.
ONE Esports Singapore Major fourth placer Team Secret is currently at the fifth spot with a 0-2-0 standing while AS Monaco Gambit is at dead-last with a 0-2-1 slate.
Execration looks to punch its ticket to the group stage against Team Nigma and Team Secret, respectively, later in the day at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
