MPL PH: Echo sweeps rejigged ONIC to open Season 13 campaign

ECHO opened their MPL Philippine Season 13 campaign with a convincing 2-0 sweep of ONIC Philippines on Saturday at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City.

For ECHO jungler Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, the win was simply because they were able to do what they needed to do against their opponents.

“Hinahayaan lang namin sila kung ano gusto nilang gawin, tapos kung ano yung pinractice namin sa scrim, yun lang din lalaruin namin. Parang bahala sila gawin nila gusto nila (ONIC), gagawin lang din namin gusto namin,” he explained

It was Frederic “Bennyqt” Gonzales (Claude) who led the way in a dominating opening salvo, finishing with a perfect 7-0-3 KDA.

Then Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno (X.Borg) took over in Game 2 courtesy of a flawless 6-0-4 KDA.

ONIC was parading MSC 2021 MVP Duane “Kelra” Pillas and former TNC Pro Team jungler King “K1NGKONG” Perez.

But they could not live up to the expectations of their new Double K combo as ECHO never felt threatened throughout the series.

The M4 World Champions will try to get a win-run going as they face Smart Omega on Sunday, March 17.
