ECHO country manager Mitch Liwanag revealed the reason behind Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s and Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales’ decision to skip the team’s upcoming stint in the Snapdragon Pro Series Season 3 SEA – Challenge Finals.
After playing non-stop in the MPL Philippines Season 11 and the 2023 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup, both players decided to take a short break for different reasons.
According to Liwanag, Bennyqt wanted to spend quality time with his daughter ‘Wanwan’ before gearing up for the upcoming MPL Philippines Season 11 while KarlTzy opted to take a well-deserved rest following the team’s loss in the MSC.
“Taking a break talaga. Literal na pahinga. Gusto makasama ni Benny muna yung baby niya and naiintindihan ko yun bilang mommy na din,” Liwanag told Tiebreaker Times.
“For Karl, matagal na kase sya sa league so deserve din muna nya magpahinga binigay na namin sa kanya yun,” she added.
The reigning MPL PH Press Corps Executive of the Year assured that both players will be up and ready for the World Cyber Games this July 27.
Liwanag also shared that both KarlTzy and Bennyqt have been practicing together with teammates Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera, Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya, and Alston “Sanji” Pabico before they head to Jakarta, Indonesia on July 15.
“Babalik naman din sila sa WCG tuloy tuloy na yun so sana sulitin na nila,” she said.
The Snapdragon Pro Series will run from July 17 to July 23. ECHO will fly back to the country on the 25th before heading to South Korea for the WCG on July 27.
The WCG 2023, which will feature four teams, will take place from July 28 to 30, 2023. (Jan Marcus Montevirgen)
