In a span of 3 months, players of AP.Bren have become multi-millionaires after winning approximately P16.6-million in the M5 World Championship last December 2023 and P19.4-million in the Games of the Future last month.
Surprisingly, members of the team haven’t been extravagant with their spending, according to head coach Francis “Duckeyyy” Glindro.
“I think my players are very frugal when it comes to the winnings that they have accumulated along the way for the past few months,” Duckeyyy revealed to members of the press.
He added that the ‘most expensive item’ was purchased by Kyle “KyleTzy” Sayson, a second-hand car that’s considered a necessity for their family.
“Masaya ako na nakapag-decide siya to buy a car that does not have that astronomical value,” shared the veteran MLBB coach.
“Nagagamit siya ng family ni Kyle, and I think nagbago na yung plano niya eh. Hindi na ata bahay for now, parang gusto niya mag-business which is a good thing.“
As esports careers are often short in duration, it is important for players to learn to invest their earnings for their futures.
Asked about his own spending, Duckeyyy simply responded, “Wala naman akong pera eh,” which elicited laughter in the press room.
But Duckeyyy further added context as to why he said something like this.
“I think the moment na kalimutan mo yung pera mo, kung may pera ka man sa bangko, you live a happy life.”
Perhaps Duckeyyy’s philosophy in viewing money earned is rubbing off successfully on his players at AP.Bren.
