AP Bren head coach Francis “Duckey” Glindro was at a loss for words after a historic night that made him one of the most, if not the most, decorated tacticians in the history of MPL Philippines.
On Sunday night, Ducky joined an elite group, becoming the 13th inductee into the Hall of Legends – only the second coach in the list alongside RSG PH coach Brian “Panda” Lim.
Just hours later, the former world champion led AP Bren to a dominant 4-1 victory over Blacklist International, making him the third tactician to win two MPL PH titles in history.
“Well, ang hirap i-explain eh kasi we got like two achievements in one day,” said Duckey just moments after winning the championship.
Prior to these accomplishments, Duckey had already made a name for himself in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competitive scene, playing a pivotal role in EVOS Legends’ historic M1 World Championship run.
He also became the first Filipino head coach to win an M-Series title officially after helping Bren Esports topple the mighty Burmese Ghouls en route to the M2 World Championship title.
Reflecting on his journey, Duckey said that the players he had worked with, from his time at REVO to AP Bren, played a significant role in shaping him into the coach he is today.
Duckey had the opportunity to coach players like Yurino “Donkey” Angkawidjaja, Eko “Oura” Julianto, Muhammad “Wannn” Ridwan, Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, Allan “Lusty” Castromayor, CJ “Ribo” Ribo, and Mico “Coco” Sampang.
For that reason, he dedicated his Hall of Legends induction to all of them.
“I mean, my Hall of Legends is actually an effect of my players’ hard work kasi hindi ko naman maa-achieve yun ng solo ako eh,” said Duckey.
“We’re very thankful na you know, I have these guys with me and you know, along the way that we achieved and won this tournament na kasama ko sila.”
