Donut grateful to Burn X Flash for fresh start

PHNOM PENH – After a disappointing period with Nexplay EVOS, Mariusz “Donut” Tan is delighted to have found a new home with Cambodia’s Burn X Flash.

Donut, who spent two seasons with the Nexplay franchise, recently helped Burn X Flash secure a top-four finish – their highest placement in any international tournament – in the 2023 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup held at Aeon Mall Mean Chey here.

The 20-year-old gold laner delivered nine kills and two assists, with only two deaths, playing as Beatrix in Game 1 to kickstart the dominant 3-0 sweep of Group B leader RSG SG, a team that has won the MPL KH championship twice.

“Syempre ano masaya kasi first time kong makarating sa ganitong klase [laro] nakakaproud kasi I’ve made this far. Nakakaproud talaga sa sarili,” Donut told Tiebreaker Times.

Before joining Cambodia, Donut played for Nexplay EVOS in MPL Philippines Seasons 9 and 10. Although he showed flashes of brilliance during his one-year stay with the team, he never really got the chance to shine as the team consistently rotated its starters at that time.

Now with Burn X Flash, Donut quickly showcased his value, leading the team to their second consecutive title in the 2023 MPL Cambodia Spring. There, he even earned the Finals MVP award.

“Ano kasi sa e, sa NXPE kulang sa disiplina tapos nasobrahan siguro sa practice tapos pagdating ng tournament day pagod kami saka pangit performance namin. Pero grateful pa rin,” said Donut.

Donut expressed his utmost gratitude to Burn X Flash for giving him a second chance and vowed to help the team reach the MSC grand finals. Now, they aim to secure Cambodia’s first-ever international title.

“Sobrang thankful, sobrang saya kasi tinanggap nila ako dito. Sana may mapatunayan ako dito at matulungan ko pa sila.”
