Former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tiger Ed Daquioag is a wildcard entering the special Gilas Draft of the 2016 PBA Rookie Draft.
An explosive scorer who averaged 16.4 points per game during his senior year, he is also an unheralded defender that helped the Phoenix Accelerators win both the Aspirants and Foundation Cup during the 2016 PBA D-League season.
“Sa D-League kasi, more experienced ang kalaban and mga nag-PBA andoon din,” remarked the 23-year-old shooting guard about his D-League career. “Yung experience of the game sa PBA, adapted siya doon. Siguro kaya ko na rin lumaro.”
Daquioag though still does not know where he would land even if some of his Gilas teammates already know where they will play. The UAAP Season 78 Men’s Basketball Mythical Team member though wants to play under the tutelage of coach Yeng Guiao and the NLEX Road Warriors.
“Kung papipiliin, TNT or NLEX kasi Yeng Guiao yun eh,” he shared Friday afternoon during the 2016 SLAM Draft Suite.
“Nagtanong ako sa coaches and sabi nila, puwede ako doon. Bagay ako and I can fit there pero okay naman ako maglaro kahit saan.”
