PBA: Belo, Ildefonso spark Rain or Shine romp of Terrafirma

Rain or Shine unleashed a second quarter storm to blow out Terrafirma by 26, 121-95, and stay unbeaten in the PBA On Tour on Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The Elasto Painters pulled away from a close 29-24 ball game with a 36-point second frame. They also held the Dyip to just 23 to enter the half up big, 65-47.

Terrafirma could not recover from that letdown as Rain or Shine managed to maintain the lead the rest of the way, shooting 53 percent from the field.

The Elasto Painters hiked their record to 4-0, while the Dyip slipped to 1-3.

Seven players scored double digits for Rain or Shine led by Rey Nambatac’s 21 points. Meanwhile, Gian Mamuyac produced 16 points on 8-of-11 clip from inside the arc to go with four assists.

Andrei Caracut and Shaun Ildefonso tallied 14 points apiece, while Mac Belo dropped 13 points and four rebounds. Anton Asistio had 11 points, and Leonard Santillan supplied 10.

Jewel Ponferada and Nick Demusis almost joined the double figures party with nine points each. The former had four rebounds, three blocks, three assists, and two steals as well, while the latter added seven rebounds.

Juami Tiongson top-scored for the Dyip with 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals but was a minus-32 in his 32 minutes on the floor.

Gelo Alolino had 13 points, Aldrech Ramos got 12 points, while Eric Camson and Ed Daquioag made 11 and 10 points, respectively.

It will be a long break for Rain or Shine next as it will return to action on June 25 against Ginebra at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
