CODM: Omega Esports secures top eight finish

SMART Omega went on a rampage on the opening day of the Call of Duty Mobile World Championship 2022 in Raleigh, North Carolina, taking a 2-0 sweep of the group stage to enter the playoffs as the top seed in Group A.

The team is now guaranteed at least a Top 8 finish in the global tournament facing Brazil’s SKADE in the quarterfinals tomorrow.

Smart Omega first swept Europe’s STMN Esports with a dominant 250:213 victory in Hardpoint (Game 1) then emerged on top of an arduous 12:10 triumph in Search and Destroy (Game 2).

They closed out the series against the European powerhouse with a convincing 3:0 win in Control (Game 3).

With momentum on their side, the Philippine representatives quickly imposed their will on the hapless NSYL Mayhem squad of North America in the Winner’s match, establishing a hundred-point lead before holding on late to squeak in a 250:243 win in Hardpoint (Game 1).

The North Americans continued to mount the pressure in Game 2 but Smart Omega made the right stops to clutch a 7:5 win in Search and Destroy (Game 2) before clinching their spot in the playoffs with a 3:0 win in Control (Game 3).

Smart Omega is the only remaining Southeast Asian team in the playoffs after Singapore’s Almighty faltered against SKADE in the Decider match.
