Cignal has officially parted ways with Greek import Eva Chantava after just two games in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.
The Super Spikers will go all-Filipino in their matchup against the PLDT High Speed Hitters on Tuesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Cignal confirmed the news through game commentator Boom Gonzalez during the pre-game setup.
According to the statement, Cignal’s decision to release Chantava came after “coaching staff’s deliberations,” signaling a strategic shift as the team seeks to bolster its roster.
Chantava’s performance in her two appearances fell short of expectations, averaging just 11.5 points, 6.5 excellent receptions, and 2.5 excellent digs per game.
Cignal also dropped both matches during her stint — a four-set loss to Choco Mucho and a straight-sets defeat to Farm Fresh.
Looking ahead, Cignal is reportedly in talks to bring in Slovenian import Katrin Trebichavská to strengthen the team’s frontline.
Her arrival could provide the scoring punch and defensive stability the Super Spikers have been seeking.
Meanwhile, the team will also be without Vanie Gandler for the second consecutive game due to an undisclosed injury, adding another challenge as Cignal aims to regroup and bounce back in the conference.
