Chery Tiggo signs Cuban vet Yunieska Batista for Reinforced Conference

Chery Tiggo has reinforced its arsenal for the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference with the signing of Cuban outside hitter Yunieska Batista.

The 32-year-old power spiker, who last suited up for Yesilyurt Sports Club in Turkey, brings international experience and firepower to the Crossovers as they continue their pursuit of a breakthrough PVL crown.

“Power, performance, and new energy! Outside hitter Yunieska Batista joins the Chery Tiggo Crossovers,” the team declared in a social media announcement on Tuesday.

The move comes after a rollercoaster 2024 campaign, where Chery Tiggo finished fifth in the Reinforced Conference despite the presence of Canadian import Kath Bell.

The Crossovers bounced back with stronger outings this year. They secured a silver medal in the PVL On Tour after a five-set heartbreaker to PLDT in the final, followed by a fourth-place finish in the Invitational after bowing to Creamline in the battle for bronze.

Batista now joins a retooled wing rotation that combines seasoned veterans and promising talents, including Ara Galang, Cess Robles, Renee Peñafiel, Baby Jyne Soreño, and Shaya Adorador.

With Batista’s arrival, Chery Tiggo hopes to convert its string of near-misses into a serious championship run in the upcoming Reinforced Conference.
