For Ces Molina, that is what’s at stake in her possible semifinals match-up against former team Petro Gazz in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference playoffs.
“Siyempre pride pa rin ‘to dahil siyempre, yung team na ‘yon doon ako nanggaling. And somehow gusto mo rin matalo talaga yung team na ‘yon dahil yun nga. Yung pride na yun,” said Molina after Cignal’s 25-14, 25-9, 25-14 victory over BaliPure on Monday.
“At siyempre gusto mo rin i-panalo yung bagong team na yun,” the five-time Philippine Superliga champion added.
With the victory, the HD Spikers became the first team to advance to the final four. They are currently waiting for the winner of the Petro Gazz-F2 Logistics quarterfinals match-up. The Angels are currently armed with a twice-to-beat advantage.
Before making the jump to Cignal, Molina first played for Petro Gazz in the 2021 PVL Open Conference last year. There, she teamed up with the likes of Myla Pablo, Grethcel Soltones, Remy Palma, Chie Saet, and Ria Meneses – to name a few – and produced a bronze medal together.
The band once again snagged a third-place finish in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Champions League. Then Molina, along with Meneses and Jerrili Malabanan, opted not to re-sign with Petro Gazz.
If the stars align, Molina will get the chance to face her former team in the semifinal of the PVL – the same place where the team got eliminated in last year’s conference.
The Petro Gazz-F2 Logistics match will be on Tuesday at 6:00 PM.
