‘Buti na lang wala si OMV ngayon,’ says Panda

With the recent patch that boosted support heroes, RSG Philippines coach Brian “Panda” Lim jokingly expressed his happiness about the absence of former Blacklist International roamer Jonmar “OhMyv33nus” Villauna in the MPL Philippines.

OhMyv33nus is considered the brainchild of the healing meta, which revolved around support heroes like Rafaela, Angela, Mathilda, and Estes, resulting in Blacklist’s dominant run during Season 7 and 8 in the MPL Philippines.

“The meta is changing every single time. Now it’s the support meta. Buti nga wala si OhMyv33nus ngayon,” Panda said with a laugh.

Turning serious, Panda marveled at how the game has evolved over the years, making it more exciting and unpredictable. It has also led to a more balanced league in the MPL PH.

“Unlike previous seasons, lahat ng teams ngayon marunong sila how to play the early game. How to control yung mid-game. Siguro yung teams that are not able to get points is they don’t know how to end the game. They don’t have creativity regarding sa ikot. It’s really exciting that lahat ng teams really know how to play aggressively. Hindi sila takot,” he explained.

“For me, MLBB is developing a lot. Unlike before, it’s very fixed talaga.”

The changes introduced by Moonton to MLBB have made drafts even more interesting, making several heroes viable in professional play.

He compared the game to DOTA, which is one of the most popular esports disciplines in the world.

“MLBB ngayon, kahit anong hero if you can execute nang maayos, you’re good. Just like sa DOTA. Walang masyadong pangit na heroes sa DOTA right now di ba. I think it’s really an exciting season lalo na it is for M5.”
