Bulgaria staged an incredible comeback, overcoming the United States in a thrilling reverse sweep, 21-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 15-13, to secure a spot in the semifinals of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship on Thursday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Led by Aleksandar Nikolov, the Bulgarians rallied from a 0-2 deficit to reach their first World Championship semifinal in 19 years, their last appearance being a third-place finish in the 2006 edition in Japan.
Meanwhile, the United States fell short of the semifinals for the second consecutive tournament, having finished sixth in 2022.
