Aris Dimaunahan will be Blackwater Elite’s interim head coach for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, according to reports on Wednesday morning.
This comes at the heels of Bong Ramos’ resignation after an early exit in the 2019 Philippine Cup, where the Elite finished at 2-9 – a downer after they had a playoff run in the 2018 Governors’ Cup.
Ramos accumulated a win-loss record of 10-20, including a franchise-best 7-4 card in the Governors’ Cup.
Reports said that Ramos will meet Elite governor Silliman Sy on Thursday to turn over the chores to Dimaunahan, who’s been with the team since its days under head coach Leo Isaac.
A former PBA cager himself, where he once had a stint with Barangay Ginebra, Dimaunahan will have legends Rommel Adducul and Bogs Adonardo as his deputies, the reports added.
Dimaunahan will start handling Blackwater practices by next week after their break.
This recent shakeup among personnel came after assistant coach Patrick Aquino was tapped as the interim team manager just recently, following the resignation of Joel Co.
