It’s looking like The Prodigy’s return to the Octagon might happen in Mega Manila.
37 year old BJ Penn (16-10-2), one of only two two-division UFC champions, is penciled in to headline UFC Fight Night Manila 2. Standing on his way will be “The Bully” Ricardo Lamas (16-5) according to a report by MMAFighting.com.
Penn, who has been on the sidelines since 2014 – with his last loss coming from UFC Fight Night Manila headliner Frankie Edgar, announced his return to the UFC earlier this year. However, he was suspended by the USADA after an IV infusion during an out-of-competition testing. The suspension ends on September 25.
On the other hand, Lamas is coming of a loss against Cole Miller against Max Holloway during UFC 199 in his hometown of Chicago. During the bout, he split his shin but has recovered since.
The bout is reportedly in the UFC’s featherweight division.
