With Meralco sweeping the Star Hotshots in its semifinals series Wednesday night, the Bolts have been afforded the luxury of sitting at the comforts of their own homes, waiting on who will face them in the finale of the 42nd season of the PBA.
But no one is more anxious and excited at the same time than Ranidel de Ocampo.
When asked who he wants to face between the TNT Katropa or the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, De Ocampo disclosed that he will be a nervous wreck if TNT advances to the Governors’ Cup Finals.
“Kahit sino siyempre pero kinakabahan ako pag TNT.
“Siyempre matagal akong naglaro dun sa TNT kahit papano,” shared De Ocampo, who played with the Talk ‘N Text franchise from 2008 to 2017.
De Ocampo won six championships with TNT and was even named as the Finals MVP in two of those championships. And even in his 13th year in the big league, De Ocampo continues to provide, averaging 12.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in 29.67 minutes in the semifinals — seemingly moving on from the September 11 trade.
“Iba yung pakiramdam ngayon,” the 35-year-old stretch forward furthered.
“Dati kasi pag nag Finals ako nasa TNT pero ngayon ibang team na, Meralco.”
Still, being a loyal soldier to the MVP Group, De Ocampo will still cheer for his former team to advance, wanting to make history for the MVP Group of Companies.
“Dati pag nag championship, madalas Ginebra, San Miguel, at Star,” he recalled.
“Sana ngayon may TNT at Meralco para may history naman na naglaban sa Finals pareho.”
