Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales’ Wanwan took over late in Game Three, steering Aura PH to a 2-1 victory over defending champions Bren Esports in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Seven, Saturday evening.
With the win, Aura PH (6-2) forged a tie at number one spot in Group A with Work Auster Force (5-4) with 16 points each.
“Actually pinag usapan namin yung mga pagkukulang namin in-game and sa draft so ayun, ginawa lang namin yung mga necessary adjustments namin para maka-recover sa game,” said Aura PH coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado.
Fighting against the early game composition of Bren led by the Alpha of Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, Bennyqt managed to get the items he needed to carry the two-time champions in the late game.
A sandwich play initiated by Christian “Rafflesia” Fajura’s Barats at the top lane wiped out Bren Esports which gave Aura PH the Game Three win.
The former Execration star was named the SMART MVP with a 2-0-11 stat line in Game Three.
The 1-2 punch of Jaypee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz (Chou) and Allen “Greed_” Baloy (Natalia) shut down KarlTzy’s Granger as early as the get-go to keep Bren Esports passive in the early game.
Bren Esports had the chance to turn things around, but a crucial Way of the Dragon from Jaypee on KarlTzy prevented Bren from stealing the Luminous Lord.
A late pick-off on top of Allan “Lusty” Castromayor’s Popol and Kupa was the nail in the coffin for Aura PH — ending the game at exactly 16 minutes and 49 seconds.
Mark “LORD HADESS” Lazaro, who had a free Lancelot game, was named the SMART MVP in the 23-12 Game One win with nine kills, two deaths, and six assists.
Bren Esports returned the favor in Game Two, with Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel’s Selena initiating the early pick-offs to lead the world champions to a dominant 9-3 win and even the series.
David “FlapTzy” Canon, who succeeded on multiple flanks for Bren, won the SMART MVP in Game Two with a clean 4-0-5 line in 11 minutes and 43 seconds of game time.
Despite the loss, Bren Esports (5-5) managed to force a tie with ONIC PH (6-2) for the second spot of the same group with 15 points apiece.
Aura PH will next face Nexplay Esports tomorrow, Sunday at 3:00 pm while Bren Esports looks to bounce back against Work Auster Force on Saturday, 7:30 pm.
