Though injuries are inevitable, Beau Belga finds it hard to accept his, as it was a big blow to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
The results of the 6-foot-6 slotman’s injury are out, and he has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He incurred it last Friday, early in the Elasto Painters’ match versus the Columbian Dyip, which they lost.
Given that, Belga has to sit out for two weeks, which is disappointing seeing as the Elasto Painters are already missing the services of their disgruntled center Raymond Almazan.
Moreover, their hopes of making it into the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup playoffs have taken yet another hit after losing to Allen Durhan and a well-deployed Meralco Bolts, 82-91, Sunday evening, thus sending their record to 2-6.
“Kung kailan wala si Raymond, kailangan ka ng team, na-injury pa,” rued the 31-year-old Belga, who was averaging 11.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists 18.9 minutes prior to sitting out versus the Orangemen.
“Pero wala kang magagawa eh. Hindi mo inaaasahan yung injury na darating.”
So with the Elasto Painters depleted at a very crucial stage this conference, the 10-year league veteran hopes that everybody will play with a sense of urgency in their next three games, as they try to save their campaign.
“Kailangan namin ng mga players na mag-step up sa absence ng iba.
“And we’re on the… nasa pwesto kami na pwede kami ma-eliminate so everybody needs to step up,” said Belga.
