Bagunas sole player in double-digits as Oita swept by Suntory in V.League

Oita Miyoshi faltered anew to top seed Suntory, 13-25, 22-25, 16-25, in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s tournament at the Ookini Arena Maishima, Sunday.

Filipino import Bryan Bagunas was the only Weisse Adler to breach double figures with 10 points.

The national team stalwart was efficient as well, going 9-of-16, including a 4-of-6 clip from backrow.

Fellow foreign reinforcement Curtis Stockton had nine of his own while Kenta Koga managed five off the bench.

Weisse Adler absorbed their 31st loss in 34 outings with just two games left in the elimination round.

Russian Dmitriy Muserskiy came through for the Sunbird with 12 points on a perfect night, going 11-of-11 in the attacking department including five backrow hits.

Kenya Fujinaka just missed double figures with nine markers as Suntory rose to 30-2.

Oita Miyoshi will play its penultimate game of the season on Saturday, March 27 at 3 pm, against Toray at the Kanaoka Park Gymnasium in Osaka.
