Bagunas drops 18 as Oita Miyoshi yields to Toray in V.League

Oita Miyoshi stumbled for the four-straight match, yielding to Toray in four sets, 26-24, 21-25, 16-25, 21-25, in the 2021-22 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, Saturday at the Miyazaki Prefectural Gymnasium.

Bryan Bagunas was still a steady presence for the Weisse Adler despite the loss. He made 18 points on 16-of-30 attacks, a block kill, and a service ace.

Oita Miyoshi looked eager to put an end to its losing skid, coming out motivated to take first blood, 26-24.

But the next three sets proved fatal as the Arrows found their groove on their way to a 3-2 win-loss card.

Hungarian import Krisztián Pádár dominated the service line with five aces to go with 21 spikes and two blocks. He finished with a monster 28-point night for Toray.

Shoma Tomita and Kentaro Takahashi also nailed 11 points apiece for the victors.

Emerson Rodriguez had 19 points in the losing cause, while Kota Yamada punched in 13 points.

The two teams battle again tomorrow at the same venue at 1:00 PM.
