B.League: Javi GDL plays limited min as Ibaraki rally falls short vs Tokyo

Ibaraki’s spirited rally fell short once more, bowing to Tokyo, 73-79, in the 2021-22 B.League season, Saturday at Arena Tachikawa Tachihi.

Down 63-50 entering the final frame, the Robots went on an 18-5 blast to knot things up with 6:07 left. A triple by Kohei Fukuzawa knotted things up.

Sebastian Saiz took charge for Tokyo, scoring four straight points to give Tokyo some cushion.

Though Eric Jacobsen and Chehales Tapscott tried to will Ibaraki, Jordan Taylor and Saiz provided clutch buckets and stops to seal the win.

Alvark, who went up to 13-7, was led by the 18 points and 11 rebounds of Alex Kirk. Meanwhile, Ryan Rossiter also had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Taylor and Saiz both had 13 points each with the former also tallying seven rebounds and seven assists.

Ibaraki fell to 3-17, losing eight of their last nine games.

The Robots were paced by the 25 points and 11 rebounds of Jacobsen.

Tapscott added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block while Kohei Fukuzawa chipped in 13 points.

Javi Gomez de Liaño played seven minutes and did not attempt a shot. He had two rebounds and an assist.

The two squads face off again tomorrow.
