An era had just ended for Ateneo de Manila University athletics on Thursday.
The university’s women’s volleyball team lost to archrival De La Salle University in the UAAP Season 84 stepladder marked the end of Dani Ravena’s collegiate career.
And with it, there will be no Ravena playing for Ateneo come Season 85 — the first time in 12 years.
The Ravenas, who have been dubbed the first family of Ateneo, brought glory to the school during that time.
Kiefer, the eldest of the siblings, brought two men’s basketball championships to Ateneo during Seasons 74 and 75 on top of the three boys’ crowns he gave Ateneo High from seasons 71-73.
The heady guard also ended his stay in college with two Most Valuable Player plums.
Then came Thirdy.
Thirdy gave the school three men’s basketball crowns — including an unprecedented sweep of Season 82. He was also part of the high school team that won season 73.
The barrel-chested winger is also the only student-cager in league history to win three Finals MVP honors.
Finally, Dani was part of the Ateneo team that won the Season 81 women’s volleyball tiara.
The defensive specialist also made history after becoming the first libero to be named captain in the UAAP.
All in all, the Ravenas gave the school six collegiate championships.
As this chapter in Ateneo sports history closes, Kiefer, all the way from Korea, had this to say.
“The Last Chapter has ended.
“Three Eagles with the same blood. For the Blue and White. 12 years in the making. No regrets. All for Him,” he tweeted.
