Ange Kouame signs with French team Chartres


Angelo Kouame is indeed heading to Europe.

Chartres Métropole announced last September that it has signed the 6-foot-11 naturalized Filipino for the 2023-24 Nationale Basketball 1 season.

The 25-year-old Ivory Coast-born Filipino was a pivotal piece in Gilas Pilipinas Men’s 19th Asian Games triumph.

During the final versus Jordan, he tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds while helping shut down the Falcons’ big men.

“Thank you to the country, to my teammates, the coaches, and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas for trusting me and choosing me to be part of this group,” Kouame expressed.

“God is great! God got me! A lot of ups and downs but hey, the job is done,” he continued.

“We champion, Philippines!”

Kouame is also a former UAAP Most Valuable Player at Ateneo de Manila University.

He joins a Chartres team that is currently that is currently 2-2 early in the season.

Chartres is led by the likes of Chimezie Offurum and Lucas Thevenard.
