Filipinos will have another title fight to look forward to on Sunday, July 2, at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland
Reigning IBF World Super Flyweight titleholder Jerwin Ancajas (26-1-1, 17KOs) will get to fight in the undercard of his idol Manny Pacquiao, as he is set for another title defense in the undercard of Pacquiao vs Jeff Horn.
The 25-year-old champion from Panabo City, Davao del Norte will defend his title against Japanese contender Teiru Kinoshita (25-1-1, 8KOs). This comes after his seventh round win over Jose Alfredo Rodriguez in Macau, China last January.
Joven Jimenez, Ancajas’ coach and manager, confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
“Tuloy na tuloy na [at] naghahanda na kami,” he said.
This is the second time Ancajas gets to fighting in a Pacquiao card.
Back in 2014, Ancajas fought in the undercard of the Pacquiao-Chris Algieri card at the Cotai Arena in Macao. He was able to stop Fadhili Majiha in the third round.
And Ancajas is honored to be part of a Pacquiao card once more.
“Para sa akin, bihira lang talagang ma-undercard sa laban ni sir Manny,” Ancajas told Tiebreaker Times.
“Mapa-undercard ka lang, talagang napakalaking bagay na para sa akin. Pinakaswerte ka nang boxer na mapasama sa laban ng isang legend.”
