Amihan Esports dominated the entire Group B while Team Secret did just enough in Group A as both Filipino squads qualified for the League of Legends: Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series Summer Super Cup playoffs.
The Icon Series Philippines Summer Split champion ended the group stage with a 5-1 win-loss record in Group B to claim the top spot. This gave the squad an outright berth to the quarterfinals of the Summer Super Cup playoffs.
Amihan Esports brought out the broom as early as the first round of the group stage, taking down Singapore’s Alliance, Indonesia’s Bigetron Infinity, and Malaysia’s Geek Fam, respectively. The Filipino champs then took down Geek Fam to open the second round before losing to Bigetron Infinity and capping off the group stage with a bounce-back win against Alliance.
The squad is composed of Miguel “Mitsura” Gavin (Middle), Jelson “Jelson” Ayon (Jungler), Richard “Demon” Lara (ADC), Karl “KARLLL” Bautista (Baron), and Beaver-Ed “Orthros” Villanueva (Support).
On the other hand, Team Secret finished its Group A stint with a 3-3 card to claim the final playoffs spot in the group.
Despite tying SBTC Esports of Vietnam in the standings, the Filipinos were still relegated to the third spot as they lost both of their group stage matches against the Vietnamese.
Team Secret opened its group stage campaign with a huge win over Hong Kong’s QWQ. However, the team suffered consecutive deflating losses against SBTC Esports and EVOS Esports TH, respectively, to end the first round.
The team bounced back, though, with two straight wins over QWQ and eventual first placer EVOS before dropping their last match of the group stage against SBTC.
Composing the Team Secret squad are James “Hamezz” Santos (Support), Robert “Trebor” Mansilungan (Jungler), Caster “Chewy” Dela Cruz (ADC), Heri “Tatsurii” Garcia (Middle), and Eleazar “Azar” Salle (Baron).
Amihan Esports will face the winner of the first-round match-up between SBTC Esports and Bigetron Infinity while Team Secret will go up against MVP of Hong Kong for the right to face Cerberus Esports of Vietnam in the quarterfinals.
