All systems go for Pinoy Pride 42 after Milan Melindo makes weight

There were some concerns with the main event of Pinoy Pride 42, as co-headliner Milan Melindo checked in overweight. But after a brief scare, Melindo was able to shed his excess weight to save ALA Promotions’ biggest night.

The IBF world light flyweight title fight between Milan Melindo and Hekkie Budler was saved after both men made weight, Friday afternoon at the Waterfront Hotel and Resort in Cebu City.

It was the South African Budler who stepped onto the scales first , registering at exactly the 108 pounds.

Melindo, on the other hand, weighed 1.25 pounds over the limit and was given two hours to make the cut.

Fortunately, the anxious moments were soon eased out after Melindo weighed in at exactly 108 pounds just an hour after his first weigh-in.

In the co-main event, Jonas Sultan and former IBF World Flyweight champion Johnriel Casimero checked in at 114.75 and 115 pounds respectively. Both men has expressed excitement for their eliminator fight for the IBF super flyweight belt.

For Sultan, he knows how big this fight will be for his young career, and vows to give everything in this fight.
