Louie Romero and the rest of the Farm Fresh young guns expressed their eagerness to lift the Foxies out of the Premier Volleyball League cellar after scoring their breakthrough win on Tuesday.
Farm Fresh achieved its breakthrough victory, snapping its 12-game losing streak by sweeping Gerflor, 25-17, 25-17, 25-15 in the Second All-Filipino Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“Sobrang happy talaga na nanalo kami ngayon kasi nagbunga lahat ng sacrifices namin, yung mga training namin,” said team captain Louie Romero, who delivered 13 excellent sets in the match against the Defenders.
The Foxies ended their first PVL stint in the Invitational Conference winless, losing all five of their group-stage matches.
Farm Fresh’s losing streak extended to 12 games after dropping their first seven matches in the Second All-Filipino Conference.
They eventually ended the streak against the embattled Gerflor.
“Nakuha na namin yung momentum ngayon, siguro po tuluy-tuloy pa rin namin yung ginagawa namin saka yun po, trabaho lang po,” said Trisha Tubu, who contributed nine markers in the victory.
“Mage-enjoy kami pa lagi ganun so siguro po yun yung mga uulitin namin sa mga susunod naming laro, na mag-enjoy lang kami saka ayaw po naming mawala sa amin yung momentum,” she added.
After finally tasting their first victory, Romero said that the team is eager to close out the tournament strong and help Farm Fresh move out of the league’s cellar.
“Yun nga, lahat naman ng mga kalaban namin opportunity talaga samin kasi yun nga, ang tagal naming hinintay yung panalo and sabi ko nga sa kanila lagi na pag-aralan namin kung sino yung makakalaban namin kasi ngayon nakuha na namin yung panalo,” said Romero.
“So kailangan pa namin paghandaan pa yung mga susunod hanggang di pa tapos yung conference. Sabi ko sa kanila i-angat naman natin ngayon yung Farm Fresh, yung standing ng Farm Fresh,” she added.
