Wish granted for ZUS Coffee as they secured a reliable middle blocker in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft.
The Thunderbelles used their fifth overall pick to select AC Miner on Sunday night at the Novotel Hotel in Cubao.
Head coach Jerry Yee shared during the Draft Combine that he was looking to strengthen the middle blocker position — and now, they have a brand-new tower.
Miner will form a formidable tandem with Thea Gagate, the inaugural draft’s top overall pick and an Alas Pilipinas mainstay.
“Siyempre, very excited ako na maging teammates with Thea Gagate, especially siya yung last year’s first round pick and also multiple awardees sa UAAP. So excited ako to work with her sa team,” said Miner.
Miner was a three-time Best Middle Blocker during her high school years with Far Eastern University-Diliman in the UAAP before transferring to Ateneo de Manila University in college, where she showcased a wide array of skills.
In her final year with the Blue Eagles in Season 87, Miner took on multiple roles, being utilized by head coach Sergio Veloso both as an opposite spiker and as a middle blocker depending on the situation.
With that experience, Miner enters ZUS Coffee with no expectations — except the desire to help elevate the team to greater heights.
“Siguro, nothing is certain. Yun yung natutunan ko sa Ateneo, especially with everything that’s happened. And also, coming into this team na, I hope to rebuild also the team with the staff and the other players as well,” said the 5-foot-11 Miner.
The Thunderbelles made huge strides in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference after going winless in their first two conferences. With Miner now on board, they are poised for even greater success.
