Abed leads Evil Geniuses’ sweep of Fnatic in ONE: Singapore Major

Filipino midlaner Abed “Abed” Yusop took charge in Evil Geniuses’ 2-0 sweep of the Polo “Raven” Fausto-led Fnatic in the upper bracket playoffs of the ONE Esports Singapore Major, Wednesday morning.

The 20-year-old wunderkind dropped three kills and 11 assists against a death in Evil Geniuses’ 19-9 Game One victory playing Storm Spirit.

Abed (Void Spirit) then followed it up with a 12-3-17 performance to close out his former team via a 37-20 Game Two rout.

Evil Geniuses will advance to the second round of the upper bracket and face the winner between Invictus Gaming and Vici Gaming.

Meanwhile, Fnatic’s Filipino 1-2 punch of Raven and Djardel “Dj” Mampusti will figure in a do-or-die series against fellow countrymen OB Esports x Neon in the lower bracket.

Former TNC carry Raven (Phantom Assassin) was held to just two kills, three deaths, and two assists in the opener. Meanwhile, Dj (Nyx Assassin) had five assists and six deaths in Game One for Fnatic.

Fnatic had more fight in them in Game Two, executing a cheese strategy spearheaded by Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong’s Techies. But the well-farmed Naga Siren of Artour “Arteezy” Babaev and Void Spirit of Abed proved too much for the top-ranked Southeast Asian team to overcome.

Both series will be played tomorrow, Thursday.
