Aaron Altiche’s late goal lifts JPV past Stallion for second win

JP Voltes Marikina stayed on top of the table in the early-goings of the 2018 Philippines Football League Season after a 2-1 triumph at the expense of the debuting Stallion-Laguna, Sunday afternoon at the Binan Football Stadium.

With the win, JPV — a team coming off a 2-1 win over Cebu a week ago — sit atop the standings with a full six points.

But it would not have been made possible without the late game heroics of Aaron Altiche.

Altiche, who came in as a sub for Kennedy Uzuko in the 83rd minute, scored the go-ahead goal in the third minute of stoppage time in the second half.

Stallion-Laguna had to face an early deficit due to their own doing.

Just eight minutes in, Kyungjoon Ko did the visitors a huge favor, as he accidentally knocked the ball into their own goal to give JPV the early 1-0 lead.

Stallion were able to respond with a goal courtesy of Yannick Tuason in the 44th minute.

JPV will next face Kaya-Makati on April 7. On the other hand, Stallion will take on Global-Cebu three days prior.
