2017 SEABA Championship

Thailand’s 2016 SEABA Cup core to return for SEABA

Looking to win it all in the 2017 SEABA Championship for Men, perennial contenders Thailand will field in seven cagers from the squad that took home the silver medal in the 2016 SEABA Cup, which the Thais also hosted.

The players from last year’s silver medal-clinching squad include Nakorn Jaisanuk, Chanachon Klahan, Sukhdave Ghogar, Patiphan Klahan, Teerawat Chanthachon, Chitchai Ananti, and Kannut Samerjai.

The Thai contingent will be completed by Sorot Sunthonsiri, Naratip Boonserm, Nattakam Muangboon, Anuruk Lodliang, and Wutipong Dasom.

Klahan, Ghogar, Klahan, Samerjai, and Jaisanuk were all former players for the ABL club Hi-Tech Bangkok City.

Thailand will be heading into the regional cagefest with hunger, as they are hard-pressed to bring home their second gold medal. Their very first golden finish came in 2013 at the expense of Malaysia, in Medan, Indonesia.

British national Tim Lewis will once again mentor the national squad after manning their sidelines in the 2016 SEABA Cup, his first-ever coaching gig with the Thais.

Thailand will open its campaign against Malaysia on Friday, May 12 at 5:00pm.
