Letran’s Jeo Ambohot out for two months

Jeo Ambohot was having a stellar outing on Tuesday afternoon when the Letran Knights took on the San Sebastian Golden Stags. In 21 minutes of action, he was on pace for a double-double outing with 11 points and five rebounds to go along with two blocks.

With 5:48 remaining in the third frame, the 6-foot-6 big man made a hard drive to the basket. However, San Sebastian bruiser JM Calma was there to challenge him. Ambohot fell right on his back, putting all of his weight on his right wrist.

The 20-year-old did not return to the game.

“Yun nga, una nakakalungkot dahil nawala si Jeo, nawala yung pinaka-tore namin,” said Letran captain Rey Nambatac, who finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds in the Knights’ 79-75 overtime win.

“Noong nawala siya, pumasok na sa isip ko talaga na kailangan ko mag-double effort sa rebounding kasi after Jeo, wala ng ibang aasahan eh.”

However, Nambatac and the Knights will have to work double time on the boards for here on out, as Ambohot has been diagnosed with a fractured right wrist and will be sidelined for the next two months, according to Letran Athletic Director Fr. Vic Calvo, OP.

The native of Compostela Valley averaged 8.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in 24 minutes of action.

Still, second-year Letran head coach Jeff Napa remains steadfast in saying, “Whatever the result, positibo pa rin kami.

“Kasama namin siya kahit ano mang mangyari.”
