Robert Bolick has no qualms after playing season-high 38 minutes

Robert Bolick was San Beda’s marathon man when the Red Lions took on arch-rivals Letran Knights, playing a season-high 38 minutes while doing it all on both ends.

The 6-foot-1 swing man, who was averaging 27.4 minutes during San Beda’s first three games, locked down on Letran ace Rey Nambatac on the defensive end, forcing the Cagayan de Oro native to commit seven turnovers. On offense, Bolick finished with a game-high 22 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists.

But even with the huge responsibility he was given Tuesday night, the reigning Aspirants Cup MVP said that he did not feel any fatigue as Nambatac pushed him to play beyond his limit.NCAA-93-SBC-CSJL-Nambatac-3891 Robert Bolick has no qualms after playing season-high 38 minutes Basketball NCAA News SBC - philippine sports news

“‘Pag kalaban mo kasi ang mga magagaling na player, like Rey, mai-inspire ka na maglaro eh,” shared Bolick after San Beda’s 81-74 win.

Moreover, the native of Ormoc, Leyte disclosed that if coach Boyet Fernandez asks him to play this amount of minutes every game, he would not hesitate to say yes, noting that the work the team has done during the off-season made him ready for it.

“Nandiyan naman ang mga coaches namin, maganda naman ang training camp namin nung summer, tapos papunta dito, yung mga training namin,” furthered Bolick.

“Alam naman ni coach Boyet kung paano kami aalagaan eh. We just have to trust him. Kung sino man ang gusto niya ipasok sa court, it’s his decision.

“Nag-champion na naman siya sa D-League at sa NCAA dahil decision niya yun eh. So whatever is coach’s decision, gawin lang namin ng tama,” added San Beda’s co-captain. “Tingnan mo naman ang nangyayari, nananalo naman kami. We just have to follow his system and continue to play as a team.”

And with how things are going for San Beda, there’s no denying that it is effective.
