Marriage, coach change Mike Nzeusseu’s outlook

Lyceum Pirates’ Cameroonian student-athlete Mike Nzeusseu displayed another impactful game in their match against powerhouse San Beda Red Lions, Friday evening.

Though the game cemented their status as a strong contender in the league, Nzeusseu and the Pirates continue to preach that their main goal to inspire.

“We are just here to inspire,” Nzeusseu said after Lyceum’s 96-91 win over San Beda. “It’s not about LPU being a big threat, being the number one. We really don’t care about it.

“We just play the game we love and we hope to inspire them [LPU community].”

During that win, CJ Perez led the charts once again with 24 points but Nzeusseu came in second with 18 points, 13 rebounds and two steals.

“San Beda is a big name and every time you gonna play against San Beda, pressure is always there because it is San Beda,” said the 6-foot-6 center, who is averaging 15.5 points and 9.0 rebounds so far.

And this goal to motivate is a testament to the character that is being instilled to them by head coach Topex Robinson.

“I’m just blessed to have these players around me that are driven and they’re purpose is to really inspire others – that’s been our battle cry,” Robinson added.

Besides this battle cry they live by, Nzeusseu himself is also playing inspired basketball as he and his Filipina girlfriend Jill got married last June.Filoil-2017-LPU-vs.-JRU-Nzesseu-1357 Marriage, coach change Mike Nzeusseu's outlook Basketball LPU NCAA News - philippine sports news

“I enjoy life here,” he beamed.

“I met her through a friend and then we started small and we learned about each other and then we fell in love and then we got married!”

With the way Nzeusseu shared about his life with the team and the Lyceum community, for sure he likes it here in the Philippines.

“I enjoy everything, the chemistry, the players, the practice, the school, the students, I enjoy everything!” Nzeusseu exclaimed.
