From the high of that amazing comeback 65-64 win against the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagle, which set them up for a Final Four run, the Adamson University Lady Falcons lost the next two games, which stands to ruin their campaign.
The Lady Falcons lost 70-74 at the hands of the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigresses last November 9, and succumbed to another defeat three days later when they folded 55-66 to the University of the East Lady Warriors. Both games were played at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
“Siyempre nakaka-disappoint,” lamented Jamie Alcoy.
“Siguro in God’s plan darating din yung time sa amin. May chance pa kami against FEU.
Alcoy was one of the main cogs for Adamson in both losses. She scored 16 and 15 points respectively against UST and UE, but to no avail. One noticeable problem the Lady Falcons had in both games was their failure to exert themselves after they had leveled the scores in crunch time.
Whatever happens, though, this season could well be deemed a success for Adamson. The Sports and Wellness student shared that it was her first time to experience being this close to the Final Four in her three playing years.
Adamson need to beat the Far Eastern University, and need UE to win against UST on the November 15 quadruple-header at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, for them to have a shot at a playoff for fourth seed in the post-season.
Unfortunately for Adamson, their fate could very well be decided beforehand, as the game versus FEU is scheduled to be played last on that day. Nevertheless, the Our Lady of Lourdes College alumna wants the Lady Falcons to avenge their 56-61 loss to the Lady Tamaraws in the first round.
“Kahit ano mangyari, kailangan makabawi kami sa FEU kasi tinalo nila kami which is yun yung pinakaimportante na binabalik-balikan namin na kung nanalo kami nung first round, sana hindi kami ganito kadikit. Hindi kami yung naghahabol ngayon. Kahit ano pong mangyari, must-win kami sa FEU,” declared the third-year guard.
