Lady Eagles go to 4-2 after sweep of Lady Falcons

The Ateneo de Manila University Lady Shuttlers kept their composure after their loss against their archrivals, the DLSU Lady Shuttlers last Sunday. The Katipunan-based squad successfully paved a 5-0 victory against the Adamson University Lady Shuttlers last September 28 at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall.

As expected, Bianca Carlos made quick work Lizette Dela Cueva. In the first set, the AdU frontrunner created a significant run which cut the lead of Carlos, but Carlos was somehow just waiting for the hot iron to strike. The Ateneo Lady Shuttler then continuously blasted smashes and drops, claiming the victory with straight-set wins, 21-6, 21-5.

Mika Aquino of Adamson was also no match against Ateneo’s Patricia Malibiran. Coming in the first set, Aquino had chances to make counterattacks but Malibiran was able to predict Aquino’s moves. In just 25 minutes, Malibiran got the winning ticket at 21-13, 21-7.

Entering the court once again, trailblazer Carlos partnered with Chanelle Lunod in the first doubles, facing against Mika Aquino and Clydel Pada. A short 21 minutes game play proved how the Ateneo’s duo dominated the match, 21-18, 21-15.

Geva De Vera and Cassie Lim took care of the second doubles match. The Ateneans won it in straight sets, 24-22, 21-10, over Alyssa San Pedro and Garin.

Rookie Samantha Ramos completed the sweep for the Blue and White in 21-18, 21-16 win over Pada.

On October 1 at 1pm, the Ateneo Lady Shuttlers will face UST while Adamson will go up against DLSU.
