November 6, 2016 is going to be a day Filipino boxing fans will never forget.
Two of the biggest Filipino boxing stars will be on the same card as “The Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire Jr. (37-3) will be making his second defense of his crown on the same card as Manny Pacquiao’s return fight.
In a report of ABS-CBN’s Bev Llorente, Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum announced that Donaire, the reigning WBO world super bantamweight champion, is set to face the undefeated Mexican-American (23-0) Jessie Magdaleno as the co-main event of Pacquiao vs. Vargas at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada USA.
The 33-year old Donaire is coming off an emphatic third round victory last April against Zsolt Bedak to successfully defend the belt he won in Puerto Rico back in December 2015.
He will be facing Magdaleno, a younger and dangerous southpaw with 23 victories under his belt, 17 by way of knockouts.
What remains to be discussed is whether Donaire will defend his belt or not since the 24-year old Magdaleno previously had issues reaching the 122-pound championship limit. A possibility of a rematch with Juarez is another option if things fail to push through.
