TIP earns another resounding win, demolishes Perpetual

After a surprising win against UAAP powerhouse Ateneo during opening day, the Technological Institute of the Philippines Lady Engineers crushed NCAA Final Four contender University of Perpetual Help System – Dalta Lady Altas 25-16, 25-13, 25-15 in Group A of the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference at the PhilSports Arena.

The Lady Engineers rained a tournament-high 21 aces on the misreceiving Lady Altas. The Las Piñas-based spikers never had a chance against their Quiapo-based Lady Engineers, unable to pass consistently for any stretch.

“‘Yung kalaban namin binibigyan din ng exposure. Kita naman ang pagkabata ng team nila,” said TIP head coach Achilles Paril.

“Kami din, marami pang errors. Naging mabilis lang ang laban kasi mas maraming errors ang kalaban.”

Guest player Mylene Paat led TIP with 13 points off five attacks, five aces, and three blocks while Alyssa Layug added 10 markers.

Towering Malou Clemente led the Lady Altas with 12 point while her fellow middle hitter Coleen Bravo added five.

TIP (2-1) faces the SSC-R Lady Stags (2-1) on Monday, 4:00 pm at the PhilSports Arena for the right to an outright berth to the next round. UPHSD (0-2) still has a chance to advance if they win against Ateneo Lady Eagles (0-2) on August 15, 6:00 pm at the PhilSports Arena.
