Rondina sprains ankle in match against F2 Logistics

In the first three sets of the crucial preliminary round competition between the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers and Foton Tornadoes, outside hitter Cherry Rondina provided the much-needed points for her team to get a 2-1 set advantage.

However, just when Foton were looking to finish the game off in the fourth frame, a mishap happened to the fan favorite Rondina.

In the early part of the set, Rondina awkwardly landed on her feet and was accidentally stepped on by teammate Maika Ortiz. The wing hitter was quickly treated and checked.

In her post-match interview, Foton Head Coach Vilet De Leon shared that she had been informed Rondina had suffered an ankle sprain.

“She’s okay. Medyo namaga, pero okay naman,” she said.

Foton’s mentor believes and hopes that her open spiker will recover in time for their semifinal match against either Petron or RC Cola-Philippine Army next Saturday.

Rondina notched 11 points before suffering the injury.
