After all five poomsae events ended, the medal count for the overall poomsae championship for the 77th season of the UAAP was tabulated by the officials. The medal tally ended up looking like this:
GOLD | SILVER | BRONZE | |
INDIVIDUAL MALE | UST | UP | DLSU |
INDIVIDUAL FEMALE | DLSU | FEU | UST |
MIXED PAIR | UP | DLSU | UST |
MEN’S TEAM | DLSU | UST | UP |
WOMEN’S TEAM | UP | UST | FEU |
With just one gold medal, the University of Santo Tomas ended up being 3rd overall in the Poomsae event. This ended the dominance of the Tiger Jins’ in the poomsae event.
However, the De La Salle Green Jins and the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons were tied with 2 gold medals. To make things more complicated, both teams garnered 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal each. With this deadlock, Poomsae Commissioner Master Igor Mella, together with all the coaches, decided that the tiebreaker that will be implemented was to total up all the scores from all the poomsae events. The squad with the higher total will be declared as the overall champions. In other words, the quotient system was being implemented.
The result was:
IND MALE | IND FEMALE | MIXED PAIR | MEN’S TEAM | WOMEN’S TEAM | TOTAL | |
DLSU | 8.12 | 8.29 | 7.73 | 7.75 | 7.25 | 39.14 |
UP | 8.16 | 7.94 | 7.81 | 7.57 | 7.79 | 39.27 |
MARGIN | +13 (UP) |
With a +13 quotient, the University of the Philippines was declared champions for this season’s Poomsae event.
