A new conference of the PBA-Tag Heuer 3-on-3 Women’s Basketball Tournament kicked off Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, with NLEX and TNT recording opening day wins.
The Road Warriors made short work of Alaska, 15-4 behind the hot sniping of Katherine Sandel, who made three long range baskets.
Back to back two-point baskets by Sandel in between an Analyn Almazan basket made it 13-4 for NLEX, before two straight field goals ended the match for the Road Warriors.
In the second game, Tropang TNT got off to a hot start before prevailing late to edge Globalport, 14-9.
Twos by Karen Salapong and Jaclyn Cruz pushed TNT’s lead ahead to 6-1, before the Batang Pier rallied back.
A Nelia Sinsioco long-range shot gave Globalport an 8-7 edge in the dying minutes of the match, but Salapong scored an and-one play to take back the lead, 10-8.
Later on, Cruz made a long range shot to seal the win for TNT, 14-9.
