On the eve of their biggest match of the UAAP Season 80 Men’s Volleyball Tournament, Ateneo Blue Eagles head coach Oliver Almadro went through a challenging night, to say the least.
Apparently, the three-time UAAP champion mentor had to deal with a trespasser in their private property and spent most of the night in the police station.
Almadro recalls someone occupying his parking spot within their private property. To catch the perpetrator, Almadro parked his car right behind that of the intruder’s.
Later into Saturday night, he saw his car door being wrecked by the young man who stole his spot. Almadro’s encounter ended in the police station when the adolescent male, who studies in a university in Katipunan, refused to let Almadro talk to his parents.
Almadro eventually opted not to press charges, even going as far as not to reveal the young man’s name when approached by the media.
In a few hours i will have one of the most important game this season but i am here in police precinct because of a drunk up student for a case of alarming scandal, trespassing & damage to our properties. This is what too much alcohol can do to our youth.

Almadro also did not use his sleepless night as an excuse for their eventual loss to the NU Bulldogs on Sunday morning.
“It just wasn’t the best start to the day.
“Imbis na naka-focus ako sa game, medyo naabala pa tayo,” Almadro said.
