Arjay Onia, Raymark Woo push La Salle past Adamson for second straight win


The De La Salle University Green Spikers rattled off their second straight win, dislodging the pesky Adamson University Soaring Falcons, 25-20, 25-15, 24-26, 25-22, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The Green Spikers had dominated the first two sets of the match before slipping in the third set. The Falcons took advantage of a late reception meltdown and crept in to extend the match.

“Nag-relax kami eh,” said graduating winger Raymark Woo about their third-set loss. “Kailangan namin siguro ayusin talaga ‘yun. Pero maganda kasi naka-recover kami noong sunod na set.

The Green Spikers were reeling in the fourth frame, trailing 17-20. Adamson, however, let out a torrent of errors and miscues, opening the door for La Salle’s comeback. The Green Spikers went on a 4-0 run to takw the lead, 21-20, the sealed the match thanks to clutch hitting from Cris Dumago.

Arjay Onia topped La Salle with 22 points, all off attacks. Woo added 19 from 15 spikes, two blocks and two aces.

The Green Spikers even their record at 3-3 and will face the defending champions Ateneo Blue Eagles (4-1) at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on March 3.

Pao Pablico led the Falcons with 16 points while team captain JP Yude added 13.

The Soaring Falcons fall to 1-5 and take on the winless UE Red Warriors (0-6) on March 4.
