Rod Ebondo powers CEU’s romp of Che’Lu-San Sebastian

Rod Ebondo continued to tear the house down for the Centro Escolar University Scorpions, steering his side to their second win with a 105-88 beatdown of the Che’Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian Revellers, Tuesday afternoon at the Pasig Sports Center.

Without a match from the Revellers’ side, the Congolese big man had his way in the paint, pouring 28 points, 23 rebounds, and eight blocks to preserve the Scorpions’ immaculate 2-0 slate.

What was different this time around, though, was the supporting cast, as CEU went 12-of-31 from beyond-the-arc to complicate things further for Che’Lu-San Sebastian.

Orlan Wamar pumped five triples to finish with 18 markers, seven boards, three assists, and two steals. Rich Guinitaran also delivered four treys to wind up with 14 points, and Judel Fuentes also got 14 behind his two triples for the Scorpions.

“Ebondo played his A game,” remarked coach Yong Garcia, who expected nothing less from his 22-year-old slotman. “Pero ngayon, nakakuha siya ng support from our locals. We hope na magtuloy-tuloy pa ito.”

It was utter dominance on the side of CEU, who seized control of the game in the first half, 49-35, and never looked back.

The Revellers continued their up-and-down conference and fell to an even 2-2.

RK Ilagan paced Che’Lu-San Sebastian with 19 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Allyn Bulanadi chimed in 13 markers off the bench.

CEU 105 — Ebondo 28, Wamar 18, Fuentes 14, Guinitaran 14, Aquino 8, Arim 6, Manlangit 6, Cruz 5, Caballero 2, Intic 2, Saber 2.
