Trevis Jackson drops 30, leads Gamboa-St. Clare rout of Batangas-EAC

Trevis Jackson unloaded 30 points as he lifted the Gamboa-St. Clare Coffee Lovers to a 104-81 victory over the Batangas-EAC Generals, Monday afternoon at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Fil-Am guard went on an ultra-efficient 12-of-17 clip from the field while also hauling down four rebounds as he delivered the Coffee Lovers’ first win of the conference.

Malian center Mohammed Pare also contributed a double-double of 18 markers and 11 boards. John Ambuludto chimed in 13 points and nine rebounds, and Aris Dionisio churned a solid nine markers and 17 boards to even Gamboa-St. Clare’s slate to 1-1.

The win was welcome news to coach Jinino Manansala, as he braces for a tough field in this D-League conference.

“Medyo mabigat yung mga school-based teams na pumasok, kaya sabi ko lang sa mga players, one game at a time. Makukuha din namin yan,” he said confidently.

Gamboa-St. Clare slowly broke away from Batangas-EAC, using a 33-point second quarter explosion to take a 53-38 halftime edge.

Jackson then went to work, as he got 12 of the Coffee Lovers’ 28 third quarter points to pull away for good, and even extended the lead to as high as 31, 99-68, in the waning seconds of the game.

Chris dela Peña led the Batangas-EAC (0-2) with 14 points and three rebounds, while JP Maguliano got 13 markers and six boards.

Gamboa-St. Clare will next face the JRU Heavy Bombers on Monday, February 12. Batangas-EAC, on the other hand, hope to end their skid on the same day when they face the AMA Online Education Titans.
