Charm Simborio powers Letran past Mapua

The Colegio de San Juan de Letran Lady Knights feasted off a solid outing from Charm Simborio and the Mapua University Lady Cardinals’ errors to notch their first win in NCAA Season 93 in straight sets, 25-22, 25-17, 25-19, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Former FEU Lady Tamaraw Charm Simborio collected a season-high 16 points off 10 attacks and six aces to lead the Lady Knights.

Letran also received a generous boost from Mapua’s 28 errors to cruise into the win column.

“Maganda ‘yung pinakita ng mga players namin kanina. Medyo nabawasan namin ‘yung errors namin kumpara doon sa first game namin. Marami pa kaming kailangan ayusin, pero siguro magandang start na ‘to for us,” said Letran head coach Michael Inoferio.

Kathleen Barrinuevo and Elizza Abitan each added seven points to pace the Lady Knights.

The Lady Knights (1-1) take on the Lyceum of the Philippines University (0-1) on Friday also at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Jela Pena topped the Lady Cardinals with 19 points while Diana Latayan managed nine markers.

Mapua (0-2) seeks their first win next Monday when they face the Lady Pirates.
